2011 Tech Comp winners from Berks Career & Technology Center West

19th Annual Greater Philadelphia Automotive Technology Competition

About the Competition

The overall objective of this competition is to increase the number and quality of professional automotive service technicians available to the ADAGP Dealer Members. With nearly one thousand auto technology students in the region, there is a lot of available talent to an industry that has much to offer. Today’s technicians are considered professional people and can earn as much as the engineers who design the vehicles. Furthermore, the skills and education required are equally advanced. As will be proven during the contest, the auto technicians of the 21st Century must have highly polished math and computer skills in addition to very strong mechanical aptitude.

This competition is supported by a volunteer advisory committee that meets throughout the year to plan the event. This group is made up of professionals representing new car dealerships, auto manufacturers, industry suppliers and post secondary technical schools. The Foundation is extremely grateful for the time and energy that each committee member dedicates to the contest.

This contest is open to high school seniors and it began with a written qualifying exam on November 4, 2011.  The two highest scoring students from the top twelve schools qualified for the hands-on competition that will be held on Friday, February 24, 2012 at Automotive Training Center in Warminster.  Congratulations to these schools for making it to the next level:
