Childhood obesity and diabetes are increasing at alarming rates in the United States. One in three children is overweight. The Auto Dealers CARing for Kids Foundation recently partnered with Kid Fit and Please Touch Museum® to stop this unhealthy trend. The signature program, Road to Fitness, is multi-layered and focuses on promoting outdoor physical activity and better nutrition for kids and families, specifically while on the road. The Road to Fitness project provides practical suggestions for parents and kids, offering specific information on healthier portable food options and great family activities. It empowers parents with knowledge to make it easy and convenient to become healthier.
The Road to Fitness’ outreach is achieved through strategically placed print ads, radio announcements, online components and visits to elementary schools. These efforts are complimented by quarterly events at the Please Touch Museum® sponsored by our Foundation.
This partnership also includes the BEN FM Kid Fit CARE-A-Van. The van frequently travels to community events, large and small, to hand out information to parents and kids regarding making healthy food choices and staying active. The Kid Fit crew also hands out premium items and organizes several interactive games and activities for kids.
