Auto Dealers CARing for Kids Foundation Continues One-of-a-kind Philanthropic Program

E. Norriton, Pa., September 1, 2009 – Today, 118 Dealer Members of the Auto Dealers CARing for Kids Foundation proudly kicked off the second annual Driving Away the Cold month. The program, which runs September 1st-30th, aims to bring warmth to the thousands of less fortunate children living in the Greater Philadelphia area by providing them with an important daily essential--a winter coat.

Driving Away the Cold is a signature program of the Auto Dealers CARing for Kids Foundation and Operation Warm, an organization that allocates coats to underprivileged children throughout Pennsylvania, as well as nationwide. According to the National Center for Children in Poverty, 16% of children in Pennsylvania live in poor families. For these families, with an income of less than $22,050, purchasing winter coats for its children may be an insurmountable task.

To help reduce the need for this vital item, 118 Dealer Members of the Auto Dealers CARing for Kids Foundation will donate a brand new winter coat to an underprivileged child when a vehicle is sold at their dealership during the month of September. These new winter coats will then be distributed via Operation Warm and area social services agencies, churches and more.

The Foundation and Operation Warm formed their partnership in the summer of 2008. Since then, the Foundation has provided more than 18,000 new winter coats to area children. The auto dealers registered to participate in the special month-long campaign are located throughout the five-county region of Philadelphia.
