East Norriton, Pa., April 20, 2010 - The Auto Dealers CARing for Kids Foundation is pleased to congratulate High School Seniors Cody Barlet and Brandon Kramer of Berks Career and Technology Center (West) on its third-place victory at the 2010 National Automotive Technology Competition. Barlet and Kramer advanced to the national contest after winning the allied regional event, which was hosted by the Auto Dealers CARing for Kids Foundation.
Upon winning the Greater Philadelphia Automotive Technology Competition, Barlet and Kramer collected more than $275,000 in scholarships and prizes. Further, they earned an all-expense paid trip to compete in the national competition via the Auto Dealers CARing for Kids Foundation.
The team, led by Instructor Lewis Davis and supported by Wilkie Lexus of Haverford, happily added to their winnings after capturing third-place honors at the national event. As a result of winning the two competitions, the duos earnings toppled $385,000 in scholarships and prizes that can be used to help further their automotive education and careers.
Similar to the regional event, the National Automotive Technology Competition challenges the participating students to test their automotive knowledge at different on-site workstations and perform a Pre-Delivery inspection on a previously bugged new vehicle. More than 30 student teams from around the country participated in the national contest, which was held April 6th and 7th at the New York International Auto Show.
The purpose of both the regional and national competition is to build awareness for the important role of auto technicians in todays workforce and to spotlight their specialized skills and professionalism. The Auto Dealers CARing for Kids Foundation is pleased to report that Barlet plans to further his education at the Universal Technical Institute in Exton and Kramer plans to continue his schooling at Penn College of Technology in Williamsport.
